REDUCING SPEEDS IN VILLAGES: THE VISP STUDY

Vehicle speeds are increasingly a cause of public anxiety, a key example being those on main roads through villages. This article describes a joint study that investigated the costs, benefits and effectiveness of suitable speed-reducing measures. The paper presents the results concerning the effectiveness of some of the schemes, including the accident data, together with some results from the initial monitoring.
