Surface hardening of metastable austenitic nickel steels with 2–4% Ti and their wear resistance

1980
1. For surface hardening by means of the controlled martensitic transformation we recommend metastable austenitic steel N27T4, in which the surface hardness reaches HRC 52-54. 2. Under high specific loads and sliding speeds of 1.5–3.0 m/sec in the process of dry friction and friction with a lubricant, steel N27T4 with a structure of aged martensite has high wear resistance exceeding that of maraging steel N18K12M4T and similar to that of carbon steel 45.
