EXPERIMENT ON GERMICIDAL EFFICACY AND STABILITY OF HAWTHORN FRUIT EXTRACT

Objective To know the germicidal efficacy and stability of hawthorn fruit(Fructus crataegi)extract.Methods Suspension quantitative germicidal test was used to carry out experimental observation.Results 50%(v/v)hawthorn fruit extract with a 20 min contact time killed over 97% in average of Trichophyton rubrum and Microsporon canis.25%(v/v)hawthorn fruit extract with a 5 min contact time killed over 99.9% in average of Staphylococcus aureus.Addition of 25%(v/v)calf serum to the bacterial suspension showed slight influence on the efficacy of hawthorn fruit extract in killing S.aureus.After storing at 54℃ for 14 d,the efficacy of the hawthorn fruit extract in killing S.aureus essentially not changed.Conclusions Hawthorn fruit extract has good germicidal efficacy.Organic substance slightly influences its germicidal efficacy.It is stable during storage.
