A Silver Rhyton With the Protome of Pegasus From the 4Th Ulyap Barrow

1998
A silver vessel found in 1972 near Ulyap (Adygea) is re-examined and notes are provided on the possible use of the vessel, on the time and place of its manufacture and its further history. It is concluded that it was made in the second half of the 5th c. by a master working probably in Athens. An analysis of the process of manufacture concludes it was made in two stages, repaired after damage to the wings in a careless manner.
