Brand new instant messaging routing method and router

The invention discloses a brand new instant messaging routing method and router. The router is used for managing an instant messaging server and providing a routing and addressing function for the instant messaging server. The router consists of a management module and a routing module, wherein the management module is used for maintaining information of the router and information of the instant messaging server managed by the router, mainly including: (1) a whole-network unique identity RID of each router, (2) one or more servers managed by each router, and (3) a whole-network unique identity HID of each server; and the routing module is used for providing a routing and addressing method for interconnection and interworking among instant messaging servers based on the identities HID and RID. The routing method and router have the beneficial effects that a creative instant messaging network framework is established, and reliable interconnection and interworking can be realized between private and public instant messaging servers, so that the instant messaging demands of different enterprises or organizations in a complex network environment are met.
