Promoted combustion improves FCCU flexibility

1987
Well-controlled CO combustion in the regenerator of a fluid catalytic cracking unit (FCCU) can be a valuable tool for the refiner to optimize unit energy balance and conversion, and to improve the flexibility of the FCC operation. Various aspects of the combustion of coke and CO in the regenerator are influenced by variables when the unit is operated with a promoted or unpromoted catalyst system. These variables that influence CO combustion are included in this article based on commercial operations.
