Analysis on Farmers’ Willingness to Participate in Skill Training for Off-farm Employment and Its Factors ——The Case of Ya’an City of Sichuan Province, China

2010
This paper takes farmers who have transfer tendency for study. Based on analysis of descriptive statistics of data which collected by authors in 2007, we assume that the farmers’ willingness to participate in skill training for off-farm employment (STOE) as dependent variable. Eight independent variables was selected from three groups and analysis on the factors of farmers’ willingness to join in STOE by binary-Logistic model. The result shows that the demand preference of training group, including training time, demand of training information, training place and sharing proportion of training cost, and the age have a remarkable influence on STOE. Moreover, the gender, education level and the amount of house labors have little influence on STOE. It reveals that the running model of STOE have strong impact on farmers’ decision of joining it. Finally, it proposed some suggestion for the improvement of efficiency for STOE.
