SUMMARY It has been demonstrated that Palaemonetes antennarius (Milne Edwards) (Natantia Palaemonidae) is able to assume an ecologically efficient escape direction towards deep water, perpendicular to its shore line of origin. This ability relies on the use of celestial cues.
