Comparison of 2 - dimensional and 3 - dimensional sonography in ovarian cancer

Objective To Compare 2D and 3D ultrasonograms in ovarian cancer.Methods After the bladder was full filled,Tomtec Echo - Scan 3D imaging system and Aloka SSD - 650 which probes were 3. 5MHz were performed. Results Nineteen cases of ovarian cancer, 14 were bilateral and 5 were unilateral were performed with 2D Songraphies. Two- D Sonograms showed them with different size masses,mostly were mixed or solid and the edge were not defined, sixteen cases of ovarian cancer, 14 were bilateral and 2 were unilateral 3D Sonograms showed the textures of tumor mass clarified, edges were defined, echoes was not even and mosdy could reveal necrotic liquefied cystic masses. Conclusion 3D Sonography have more value than 2D Sonography in diagnosis and differentiation of Ovarian Cancer.
