SANAT SOSYOLOJİSİ GİRİŞİMLERİ
2012
Sociology of art was born as a sub-discipline of sociology whose approaches are defined generally due to material culture and human society. Whether on a big or small scale, each culture level reflects a meaningful art tradition in terms of its social merits. Art in its roots is social even when we recite “art for art’s sake”. Thus, the individuality of the artist emerges as a social function at a certain point in history. Is that possible to design a sociological model for Turkish Art? Sociology is a fertile source for the researcher when all the eras of Turkish art are considered. To establish the approaches with the data of pre-Ottoman Anatolian culture will reveal more reliable results because of chronological and geographical proximity. In other words, to start with the question whether to define the sociology of Anatolian Selcuks, will create a realistic infrastructure for the coming Emirate and Ottoman periods. We can, to an extent, comprehend the architecture and the forms in other arts that are accelerated with the rules and dominant powers of a society’s political history, when we seek for those rules and powers along with the society’s dynamics. We might understand at least the quantitative density of the artistic environment. If art history philosophy includes the basics and principles of this science, its philosophy will eventually change when we deeply perceive the subjects, styles and social progress of a society in its broad terms. When we formulate what a figure means or refers to, we can make the connections with the society that created it. Provided we decipher the words and grammar that talk on the figure, we can realize its creator, which is our main goal.
