Tunning the Q-Factor in a Reverberation Chamber Mechanically

2021
For a reverberation chamber (RC), the chamber quality factor (Q-factor) is a useful parameter which can be used to control the coherence bandwidth in over-the-air (OTA) testing. To obtain the expected Q-factor, we install a controllable metal curtain on a wall and absorbing materials are placed behind the curtain. By adjusting the exposed area of the absorbing materials, the RC Q-factor can be controlled. We also test the field uniformity (FU), correlated angles in different scenarios. The measurement results show that with the change of the curtain area, the Q-factor and the correlated angles can be tuned. The effects on the field uniformity are investigated.
