How we feel at work depends on a number of factors. These factors may relate to the organization in which the person works, but also to the characteristics of the employee. Given that people spend a large part of the day at work, researching the factors associated with job satisfaction is of great importance for the development of organizational culture and business success. Although the topic of the connection between stress and job satisfaction and personality with job satisfaction has been researched so far, research has often focused on certain professions in service industry. In order to examine the contribution of stress and personality to the explanation of job satisfaction, this research has expanded the current range of occupations from specific occupations to the broader concept of service industry. The aim of this study was to examine the correlation between personality traits and stress at work with job satisfaction in the service sector. The study involved 122 participants 20 to 61 years of age working within service industry. For research purposes it is used the Brief Job Stress Questionnaire (Tsutsumi, Inoue i Eguchi, 2015), the Job Satisfaction Questionnaire (Spector, 1994), the Questionnaire of Personality (Mlacic i Goldberg, 2007) and general data questionnaire. The results showed that years of service are significantly and negatively associated with job satisfaction. Work satisfaction has also been shown to be significantly and negatively associated with stress at work. Job satisfaction proved to be statistically significant and positively associated only with emotional stability as a personality trait. The results suggest the great importance of focusing on measuring personality traits and susceptibility to stress in employee selection. Especially in order to achieve greater job satisfaction, and thus productivity at work.
