Alkali-aggregate reaction in concrete dams

Concern has been increasing in recent years about the problems experienced at various concrete dams as a result of alkali-aggregate reaction. This article examines and discusses the cause of the condition, and, on the basis of a survey conducted by ICOLD, reviews damage which has been caused to structures around the world, and remedial measures with have been taken.
