A summary of thecomplex behaviour from simple power conservingprotocols

Inthis paperwe examine thecomplex behaviour that emerges fromtheimplementation ofanenergy-aware system using a simple transmission powercontrol algorithm that exploits overheard MAC-level information toreduce adevice's energy consumption. Weevaluate this simple algorithm using tworadio systems andshowthat, inspite ofthecomplexity, energysavings canbeobtained using aschemethattakes advantage ofoverheard information.
