2012
Objectives: To increase the awareness amongst clinicians the possibility of spontaneous extradural Haemorrhage in patients with Hemophilia presenting with the various degree of Neurological compromise Study Design: Descriptive case series. Place and duration of study: Department of Orthopaedic & Spine surgery, King Edward Medical University & Mayo hospital Lahore, Pakistan from 2007 to 2009. Patients and methods: Total 04 patients were treated. Three cases were treated surgically and one conservatively. Results: All four patients had significant neurological recovery & achieved independent ambulatory status Conclusion: Extradural bleed is a serious complication of Hemopilia which can lead to permanent neurological deficit if immediate intervention is not carried out. However with prompt clinical diagnosis & appropriate radiological investigation i.e. MRI, early diagnosis can be made. Surgical decompression should be done as soon as possible to minimize any residual damage to neural tissue. The adequate restoration & maintaince of deficient factor to normal level is mandatory for any kind of treatment Key words: Hemophilia, Extradural Hematoma, Cervical Spine
