TCoDe: A new multithread simulator for silicon sensors in HEP applications
2019
The TIMESPOT Code for DEtector simulation is a new fast solid-state sensor simulator developed within the TIMESPOT experiment to speed up simulation time of transient simulations with the purpose of achieving large number of simulation in reasonable time. The code itself simulates sensor operation using physics and device structure already simulated and designed by other tools like TCAD or GEANT4. It is focused on computing charge motion and current induction using the Ramo theorem. Fast computation is achieved thanks to a multithread architecture which can use CPU- and GPU-based platforms depending on the available hardware. TCoDe simulation results were compared and validated using Synopsys TCAD, showing a good agreement between the simulated curves.
