Broadcast storm mitigation from unintentional misbehavior in vehicular ad hoc networks
2018
Efficiently disseminating messages has been one of the most important issues in vehicular ad hoc networks (VANETs), and various solutions have been proposed. In this paper we extend the weighted persistence broadcast mitigation technique adjusted to be used for the dense suburban scenario, and study the effects of vehicles’ unintentional misbehavior in that network. We present the results of our study, and suggest a mitigation technique using fail-safe status to handle unintentionally misbehaving vehicles for the scenarios based on the weighted persistence intelligent flooding.
