New 4-aminoquinolines and preventive and treating agent for hypertension and congestive heart failure using the same as effective component

PURPOSE: To prepare new 4-aminoquinolines having high activity for the prevention and treatment of hypertension and congestive heart failures. CONSTITUTION: The compd. of the formula I [A is benzene bonded to a pyridine ring, pyridine or the like; R 1 and R 2 are a lower alkyl, lower alkenyl or the like; Y is 1H-tetrazol-5-yl, -CO 2 R 5 (R 5 is H, an alkali metal or the like), etc.; R 3 and R 4 are H, a (substituted) lower alkyl or the like; (n) is 0 to 2] and the pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof such as 4-[(2'-carboxybiphenyl-4-yl) methyl]amino-2-methylquinoline. The compd. of the formula I is obtd., e.g. by bringing a 4-chloroquinoline of formula II to react with biphenylamine under heating at 60 to 160°C. COPYRIGHT: (C)1993,JPO
