Empirical Study and Factors Analysis on the International Competition Power of Chinese Garment and Textile Industry

Firstly, this article analyses the present development conditions of the Chinese garment and textile industry and its characteristics, and calculates the three comparative power indexes including MS, TC and RCA during the period of 1980-2005. It draws a conclusion that the international competition power of Chinese garment and textile industry is strong at present, but it will get less and less strong owing to the high cost of raw material, labor and low export price. After that, this article analyses in detail the factors affecting the international competition power of Chinese garment and textile industry. Finally, it puts forward some proposals for enhancing the international competition power of our garment and textile industry.
