Particle swarm optimization for seismic velocity analysis

Summary We present an automatic implementation of non-hyperbolic seismic velocity analysis to retrieve the two moveout parameters Vnmo and η. Our algorithm provides a global optimizer used for the identification of the semblance panels global maxima. The use of a sophisticated optimization algorithm avoids or, at least limit the impractical and time-consuming manual picking and allows for handling cases in which a parameterization with more than two parameters is required. Here we show examples from either 2D and 3D scenarios on both synthetic and field dataset.
