Performance evaluation of driving assistance systems in terms of the system diffusion ratio

2005
In this paper, the safety performance of the collision warning system using intervehicle communication on the diffusion ratio is evaluated quantitatively by a microscopic traffic simulator. The safety performance from the viewpoint of both the road administrator and the driver on the system diffusion ratio is discussed. For the road administrator, the safety performance increases largely at the region of more than 60%. Besides, from the viewpoint of the driver, both safety performances of system-equipped vehicles' drivers and system-unequipped vehicles' drivers are investigated quantitatively. Result of the evaluation shows that the ANTDforEV in the diffusion phase is longer than approximately 1.5 - 4.0 times as compared to the ANTD for UEV.
