The embodiment of the invention discloses a method for smoothly shutting down a virtual system. The method for smoothly shutting down the virtual system comprises the steps of (1) receiving smooth shut-down configuration information which is configured for the virtual system, and storing the smooth shut-down configuration information; (2) carrying out orderly shut-down on a virtual machine according to the stored smooth shut-down configuration information when a request for shutting down the virtual system is received. The embodiment of the invention further provides a system for smoothly shutting down the virtual system. According to the technical scheme, the problems caused by the fact that in the prior art, the virtual machine is closed completely according to the inverted sequence of the boot sequence are solved.
