Sistema de microscopía robotizada para diagnóstico y confirmación de diagnóstico a distancia

2011
Abstract Diagnosis of malaria require a thick smear analysis by clinical laboratory procedures using a microscope to observe and characterize the type of malaria parasite that has the patient and thus be able to formulate specific drugs to combat this parasite. This disease occurs in the Colombian Pacific Coast a tropical. This area do not have the necessary health services for improved clinical laboratory study, so it is necessary to implement a telemedicine service that would support laboratory procedures clinician, improving service quality and timing of the results of clinical laboratory analysis. The USC Telemedicine and Biomedical Engineering Laboratory implemented a robotic microscopy system by remote control, which allows the specialist or bacteriologist found in the reference center (clinical laboratory, metropolitan area), by remote control to manipulate a microscope that located several miles away (entity remitters, Colombian Pacific area) from where he is, using a web application that allows you to control the movements in coordinates (x, y, z).
