Joining and load transfer technology for hot CMC structures

This paper gives an overview of important results of development of novel joining and load introduction technologies for Ceramic Matrix Composite (CMC) hot structures. Large complex assembled hot structures are presently under development, for example CMC rudders, engine heat shields, flat and curved CMC panels. Currently, CMC flight hardware is in production for flight verification on demonstrator vehicles X-34 and X-38 that applies the new joining technologies.
