Sublimating zirconium extraction from Algoma zirconium ore

Sublimating extraction and pyrohydrolysis of zirconium tetrafluoride from Algoma baddeleite-zirconium ores processed with ammonium hydrofluoride were studied. The possibility was considered of extracting zirconium from a concentrate in high yield by ZrF 4 sublimation in an inert atmosphere and producing Zr(IV) oxide by pyrohydrolytic decomposition of the sublimation product.
