The invention relates to a gearbox-front retarder with a wet type clutch. The gearbox-front retarder with the wet type clutch comprises an input shaft, a hydraulic retarder, the wet type clutch and an output shaft, wherein the hydraulic retarder comprises a housing, a control valve, a through hole oil channel, a fixed wheel and a movable wheel; two cavities are arranged in the housing of the retarder, one cavity is used for fixedly mounting the fixed wheel of the retarder, and another cavity is used for storing the movable wheel of the retarder; two blades of the fixed wheel and the movable wheel of the retarder form an oil flowing channel. The gearbox-front retarder with the wet type clutch is simple in structure, and high in braking safety, and is provided with an individual type hydraulic control system; the retarder is mounted between an engine and a gearbox and used for assisting braking; the technical problems of complex structure, high sealing requirements and inconvenient product repair and replacement due to the existing integrated design of the wet type clutch and the gearbox can be solved; the running safety of a heavy vehicle can be improved.
