Nanotechnology: A smart translation of ingredients in the agriculture industry

2021
Abstract The increase in the use of nanotechnology in the agriculture sector is a recent trend. There has been a gradual realization that conventional farming technologies have lost efficiency due to high costs, extra management, damage to the environment and human health, and inability to restore damaged ecosystems to their pristine state. Lowered agricultural production and weakened crop immunity to diseases are associated with fertilizers, pesticides, and polluted irrigation systems. Nanotechnology has shown significant momentum in the last decade as a technology to improve and develop the agriculture sector. Many disciplines are associated directly or indirectly with agriculture, including irrigation system design and manufacture, the agrochemical industry, and the food industry. This chapter discusses the factors and parameters of conventional agriculture technologies and methods that can be replaced with nanotechnology to improve crop protection from pests, increase crop production, and strengthen crop immunity against diseases at a lower cost.
