Buckling of Thin-Walled Eccentric Compressive Members Considering Shear Lag
1999
Based on the displacement variational principle, this paper presents a general consistent method, called the spline finite member element method, for buckling analysis of thin-walled eccentric compressive members with arbitrary cross sections considering shear lag. A transformed B\d3-spline function presented in this paper is used to simulate the warping displacements along the cross section of the thin-walled member. Compared with the results from classical theory, the numerical results proposed in this paper demonstrate the versatility and accuracy of the proposed method.
