Battery electrode matrixes. [fabrication]

A sponge-like material is impregnated with a slurry containing a conducting active anode material and a plastic binder. The electrode made from this material is heated to increasingly high temperatures. The porous matrix which remains can itself be used as an electrode, or its pores can be filled with active material.
