PURIFICATION OF WASTEWATERS FROM A PIG FARM BY MEANS OF ELECTROLYSIS

1980
Abstract A laboratory test for purification of wastewaters by means of electrolysis in a static system and continuous flow of wastewaters between the electrodes has been described. The electrolysis was conducted with the application of iron electrodes and current density 24 mA/cm 2 , during 5 and 10 minutes. For comparison chemical coagulation of wastewaters was conducted by using FeSO 4 . It was found that as a result of electrolysis the pH of wastewaters increases simultaneously with the reduction of nitrogen phosphorus, calcium and COD. From the calculated amount of energy consumption together with the purification effects /also visual/ obtained, this method seems to be useful in purification of wastewaters from pig farms.
