Synthesis and Characterization of Zn-Al Hydrotalcite-like Compounds

The samples of Zn-Al hydrotalcite-like compounds (Zn-Al-HTlc) were synthesized by coprecipitation method.It was found that pure HTlc phase could be got when the molar ratio( x ) of Al to (Zn+Al) was between 0.31 and 0.52;when x ≤0.25,ZnO would emerge;when x 0.52,the amorphous state would appear.The unit cell parameters of Zn-Al-Cl HTlc samples a was between 0.302 and 0.308 nm,and c was between 0.764 and 0.791 nm.When CO~(2-)_3 was used to substitute Cl~- as the gallery anion,the parameter c decreased slightly.With the increasing molar ratio of Zn in HTlc,the particles of Zn-Al-Cl HTlc became more regular hexagonal plate.
