Performance Analysis of Ammonia-Water Regenerative Rankine Cycles for Use of Low-Temperature Energy Source

Itisagreatinteresttoconvertmoreenergyintheheatsourceintothepowerandtoimprovetheefficiencyof powergeneratingprocesses.Sincetheefficiencyofpowergeneratingprocessesbecomespoorerasthetemperature ofthesourcedecreases,touseanammonia-watermixtureinsteadofwaterasworkingfluidisapossiblewayto improvetheefficiencyofthesystem.Inthisworkperformanceofammonia-waterregenerativeRankinecycleis investigatedforthepurposeofextractingmaximumpowerfromlow-temperaturewasteheatintheformofsensible energy.Specialattentionispaidtotheeffectofsystemparameterssuchasmassfractionofammoniaandturbine inletpressureonthecharacteristicsofsystem.Resultsshowthatthepoweroutputincreaseswiththemassfraction ofammoniainthemixture,howeverworkablerangeofthemassfractionbecomesnarrowerasturbineinletpressure increasesandisabletoreach16.5kW perunitmassflow rateofsourceairat180°C.
