Prevalência de lesões em praticantes de Jiu-Jitsu de Florianópolis

Objective: To identify the prevalence of lesions of the Florianopolis jiu jitsu practitioners; type of injury; most affected anatomical segment; identify the environment in which the injury has occurred; assess the impact that the injury occurs based on practice time; and identify if there was medical diagnosis and treatment has been through physical therapy. Methods: 51 practitioners belonging to academies Florianopolis which had record in Brazilian jiu jitsu (CBJJ), a questionnaire that addressed the first part of your personal data and the participant's profile, the second addressed questions about injuries at jiu jitsu pratice. Results: 51 individuals 78% reported injury. The type of injury most prevalent was the dislocation with 21.9%. The most affected limbs by knee injuries were 16.1% and 15.2% shoulder. 98% of injuries occurred in training environment. The highest incidence of injury, 43.5% took place from 1st to 6th month training. 48% of lesions were diagnosed by the doctor. 32.2% of cases were treated with physiotherapy. Conclusion: The results showed the characteristics of lesions in jiu jitsu practitioners, this information may contribute to the construction of physical therapy planning for better performance in this population.
