Semantic labels of artefacts: examples from Wolof

2011
The aim of this paper is to explore the semantic field of artefacts which includes many nouns. However, to my knowledge, there is not study on Wolof artefact nouns available. Semantic labeling is a classification of lexical units which summarizes their word-sense. The first part establishes a basic typology of artefacts, based upon the function of the artefacts in the situation and also upon the number of actants of the noun. The second part focuses on nouns denoting objects of entertainment, because of their ability of having the word-sense of object and the word-sense of event.
