Internet and the Censorship: Is it Legal (And Necessary) to Censor the Web?

This paper deals with the legal issues that came out after that the Internet became a popular new media all around the world. After a short history of the birth of Internet, I ask whether it's necessary to think to institute a strict control on its contents or it's better to leave more freedom. Maybe the correct answer is that Internet is a medium, like many others (books, TV) so it's surely important to think to check what kind of content people put on it (especially to protect children). But it doesn't mean to censor it, provided that we do not censor TV or books.
