An approach to improving the scoring precision of the automatic scoring system for shooting sports

Scoring precision is one of the important parameters to evaluate the performance of Automatic Scoring System for Shooting Sports. Based on the analysis of the factors influencing the scoring precision, a new approach with better precision is proposed. In order to enhance and recognize the rings in the original target image, a proper oriented-filtering mask is designed, which is based on the features of the image of the target sheet. Then the ring value (shooting score) is calculated in terms of the relative position between the bullethole and rings. The experimental result shows that this method is feasible in improving scoring precision.
