Reduced fibrinolytic capacity and its restoration by plasminogen substitution in acute renal failure

1989
In order to study the relationship between kidney function and the fibrinolytic plasmin pathway more closely, we examined 82 patients with severe infections. The plasma concentrations of plasminogen and antiplasmin were assessed together with the complex of the inhibitor APL with the active enzyme plasmin which can be demonstrated in plasma during enhanced fibrinolysis. Furthermore, we present some details of nine patients with acute renal failure who received a replacement therapy with a plasminogen concentrate in addition to a substitution of fresh frozen plasma and antithrombin III concentrate
