Rheological properties of ethylene–propylene block copolymer and EPDM rubber blends using a torque rheometer

1999
Abstract Rheological properties of ethylene–propylene block copolymer (EPCP) blends with two selected grades of ethylene–propylene–diene rubber (EPDM) were studied. The studies were carried out using a Brabender torque rheometer attached with a mixing head. It was observed that the melt rheology of the blends is influenced by the ethylene/propylene (E/P) content in the EPDM rubber, blending temperature, rotor speed and mixing time. EPCP blend with EPDM having high E/P content showed higher shear sensitivity and formed a homogeneous blend in less time (
