THE EUROPEAN HIGHER EDUCATION SPACE IN JOURNALISM STUDIES: THE CASE OF UAB (AUTÓNOMA UNIVERSITY OF BARCELONA)

The implementation of the European Higher Education Space (EHES) involves the introduction of new teaching methods based on autonomous and cooperative learning. Its application in studies of Journalism has its peculiarities, especially in theoretical subjects. This article presents two case studies based on the teaching experience in two theoretical subjects at the Autonoma University of Barcelona: Media Policy and Media Systems. It also incorporates a complementary aspect of its implementation and application conditions: the size of student groups, which determine their dynamics and outcomes. This article explains how these new methodologies have been introduced in each subject teaching, planning and evaluation, as well as the instruments that have been used and have encouraged its application. It also presents the differences which have arisen between both cases. Finally, it presents the challenges faced by these methods after the critical analysis of learning experiences analyzed.
