REDUCTION OF LOW-FREQUENCY SOUND FROM IMPULSIVE NOISE SOURCES AT CONSTRUCTION SITES BY BARRIER WALLS ---INTERNOISE 84. INTERNATIONAL COOPERATION FOR NOISE CONTROL. PROCEEDINGS 1984 INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON NOISE CONTROL ENGINEERING, HONOLULU, HAWAII, 3-5 DECEMBER 1984, VOLUMES 1 AND 2.

1984
A temporary wall, made up of sand packed between two pieces of plywood, was tested at a construction site for its effectiveness in alleviating low frequency noise from the site. Details are given of the wall, experimental sound source, measurement methodology, and the results. Advantages of such a wall are that it can be assembled and disassembled with minimum disruption to the construction work at a position most effective for noise insulation. For the covering abstract of the conference see IRRD 816933.
