Polymeric sorbent, method of its production and use

2017
FIELD: chemistry. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of polymeric chemistry, namely to polymeric sorbents intended for the selective removal of cytokines and bacterial endotoxins from whole blood and other biologically active liquids, in particular plasma, lymph, as well as aqueous solutions, including proteins and organic compounds from aqueous solutions, which containing also inorganic salts, as well as methods for obtaining such sorbents and methods for sorption purification of liquids using these polymeric sorbents. Method for producing a polymeric sorbent comprises the steps of polymerizing or copolymerizing one or more monomers with at least one polymeric amphiphilic compound and at least one porogen and adding to the mixture thus obtained a mixture of at least one polymerization initiator. Separation of the resulting granules from the dispersion medium is carried out by adding cold water to the resulting reaction mixture, taken in a volume ratio of the reaction mixture:water – 1:2, followed by decanting the pellets and drying at a temperature of 20–80 °C, either by separating the resulting granules from the dispersion medium by filtration, washing with hot water taken in the volume ratio of the pellet:water of 1:1 to 1:4, then washed with cold water, taken in the volume ratio of the granule:water of 1:1 to 1:4, then acetone in a volume ratio of 1:1 to 1:4, then again with water until a pH of 6–7 is reached, the washed granules are dried, crosslinked to obtain a hypercrosslinked polymer, and the resulting sorbent is dried. Sorbent is also described for sorption purification of liquids and a method of sorption purification of liquids. EFFECT: technical result consists in providing a polymeric sorbent capable of removing both cytokines and bacterial endotoxins from various fluids, in increasing the selectivity of the polymeric sorbents for these compounds, as well as in providing a simple and effective method for producing said sorbent. 65 cl, 1 tbl, 92 ex
