Supersonic Fine Particles Bombarding: A Novel Surface Nanocrystallization Technology

This paper presents a brief review of the development of surface nanocrystallization (SNC) of metallic materials, with focus on supersonic fine particles bombarding (SFPB) technology. It is a novel technology of SNC and is suit for components with large surface area and / or complex shapes. This paper describes the mechanism behind SFPB-induced SNC and the SFPB device. Its potential industrial applications are analyzed.
