Effects of massage and acupressure on lowering high blood pressures of patients with stroke

Objective To investigate the effects of massage and acupressure on lowering high blood pressures of patients with stroke.Methods In this study, 167 cases of stroke with hypertension in the department of neurology of Wendeng Centre Hospital were recruited. The patients were divided into massage treatment group and control group. The patients in two groups all received drug therapy. Besides, the massage treatment group received massage and acupressure. Patients' blood pressures were measured four times each day and their blood samples were assayed before and after the experiment.Results It showed that massage and acupressure were significantly effective on lowering high blood pressures of patients with stroke compared with control group (P0.05),and patients in massage treatment group were more compliant.Conclusions Massage and acupressure were helpful to lower stroke patients′ blood pressure levels.
