Stability: Physical and Chemical

2010
The pharmaceutical properties of a drug, such as solubility, dissolution, and toxicology, can change dramatically when a drug undergoes chemical or physical degradation, limiting the drug's efficacy and safety. Therefore, the evaluation of drug stability becomes part of the development process as early as candidate selection and continues for the lifetime of the product. This article focuses on drug stability up to and through the formulation process. Keywords: chemical stability; physical stability; kinetics; drugs
