An embodiment of the present invention provides a method for detecting loop position in an Ethernet and an Ethernet Switching device. The present invention relates to the field of communication, and solves the problem that the loop occuring position can not be positioned quickly when the loop position is detected. The method comprises the steps as follows: the Ethernet Switching device performs aMedia Access Control (MAC) address learning; wherein before the MAC address learning is performed, a first MAC address is corresponding to a first port in a MAC table; after the MAC address learning is performed, the first MAC address is corresponding to a second port; if the second port and the first port do not belong to the same sub-network, a difference between the time which the learning is performed to the second port and the time which the message is received or sent according to the first port most recently is calculated; and if the difference is less than a preset host migration judgment threshold, the loop is determined to occur in the sub-network which is connected to the second port. The embodiment of the present invention is used for detecting and positioning the loop position.
