Evaluation of the Look After Your Heart initial tutor training course in East Anglia

THE Look After Your Heart programme has been run ning in East Anglia since 1987 and has now trained over 60 Tutors in the region. This study was designed to investigate the pass rate of candidates who stud ied the Initial Tutor Training Course in East Anglia between January 1988 and April 1991, and also to examine the number of Look After Yourself courses run by qualified tutors, that is, the activity level of tutors in East Anglia. A self-completion question naire was sent to all tutors who had trained in East Anglia between 1988 and 1991. The findings of the report did not reveal any single predictor of a suc cessful trainee: it showed that tutors who were em ployer funded and/or were educated to degree standard were significantly more likely to pass Part 2. The data also showed a signicantly higher pro portion of trainees passed Part 2 if they had experi enced a pre-course Look After Yourself class.
