Realidade Virtual para Pessoas com Deficiência: O Uso do Vídeo Game como Prática de Lazer

2018
This theoretical reflection aims to investigate a different proposal to encourage people with disabilities to use virtual reality as a leisure activity, once there are barriers that are found for leisure practice of this population. Virtual environments provide secure access to interactive situations that would otherwise be inaccessible to them because of the motor, cognitive, psychological limitations, as well as the barriers to locomotion, transportation, and the need for a caregiver. The ability to change the virtual environment relatively easily, classify the difficulty of the task and adapt it according to the player's capabilities are important advantages of virtual reality. Virtual reality proves to be effective, not only for the attractiveness of the games as a  leisure proposal, but as a cognitive and motor training of essential skills that people with disabilities must attend to.
