DESIGN AND EXPERIMENTATION OF HULL AND PROPELLER OF VERY FAST MOTOR YACHT

1987
This paper describes the methodology used by CETENA for the optimisation of a high-speed twin-screw round bilge hull. The ship is a 350t displacement motor yacht with a maximum speed up to about 40kn. Design and choice of main hull parameters are based on CETENA method; in this report we illustrate the various phases of the investigation and the experimental results obtained by towing tests. Regarding the propulsion, design specifications lead to a solution based on transcavitating propellers. In the regard we present the results of experimental comparison on models between Newton-Rader propellers and propellers designed with a methodology developed by CETENA.
