Age-related changes of Anemia in School Girls

1992
On the anemia in some school girls aged 8-17, erythrocyte (RBC), hemoglobin (Hb), hematocrit (Ht), mean corpuscular volume (MCV), mean corpuscular hemoglobin (MCH) and mean corpuscular hemoglobin concentration (MCHC) were measured.1) RBC, Hb and Ht were decreased after the age of 12 to the most remarkable extent at the age of 13 with a recovering tendency thereafter. The anemia incidence under nomal level were conspicuous at the age of 13.2) MCV tended to increase slightly before the age of 13 with no change thereafter. MCH and MCHC showed no change to the age of 14 with slight decrease thereafter. The anemia incidence under nomal level were mostly recognized at the age of 17.
