Clinical Observation of Tramadol in the Prevention of Shiver During Awakening Period in Patients with Spinal Surgery

2014
Objective To explore the effect of tramadol in the prevention of shiver during awakening period in patients with spinal surgery. Methods A total of 160 patients undergoing spinal surgery were divided into the tramadol group and the control group, with 80 cases in each group. 2 mg/kg tramadol was given through intravenous injection before the end of surgery in the tramadol group, while the control group was injected with normal saline. The awakening time, occurrences of shiver and pain during awakening period were observed. Results The difference of awakening time between two group was not statistically significant(P 0.05). Compared with control group, the occurrence of shiver was significantly decreased in tramadol group, and the pain was relieved. Conclusions Tramadol can prevent the shiver during awakening period and improve the comfort of patients undergoing spinal surgery.
